Ms. Stephenson represents individuals and businesses in a variety of transactional matters including trademark protection, entity formation, and contract preparation. She also represents litigants in contract, real property, and family law disputes. Estate planning rounds out her practice. Prior to joining Blanchard, Krasner & French, Ms. Stephenson clerked for the Honorable Bruce S. Jenkins at the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah.
Ms. Stephenson is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of law where she received her Juris Doctor, cum laude. While attending law school and working full time as a University administrator, Ms. Stephenson helped found the San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law, and then served as Managing Editor for the Journal its first year of publication. She received her Bachelor of Art’s Degree, cum laude from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota with a double major in Political Science and Psychology.
Ms. Stephenson is admitted to practice in the states of California and Nevada. She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the La Jolla Bar Association, and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego. Ms. Stephenson serves on the Advisory Board for and as the elected Vice-Chair of the Business and Corporate Law Section for the San Diego County Bar Association. She was also elected to and serves on the board of directors for the La Jolla Bar Association as Treasurer, and serves on the Professional Advancement Committee of the Lawyers Club. Ms. Stephenson was named a 2012 Young Attorney Finalist (aka winner) by the San Diego Daily Transcript (and nominated in 2014), recognizing her as a top young attorney who is “hard-working and detail oriented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, ethical and professional, and committed to furthering the interests of justice in society.” She also made the 2015 Best of the Bar List (San Diego Business Journal).
In connection with her professional activities, Ms. Stephenson regularly speaks at bar events and drafts articles for various legal publications. In 2013, Ms. Stephenson coordinated and moderated “Employment Contract Negotiations and Pitfalls to Avoid” and the “Annual Business & Corporate Law Update,” both for the San Diego Country Bar Association. Recent articles include: “Employment Agreement Drafting Dos and Don’ts”, SDCBA Bar Report, March 2013; “Lawyers Club Commemorates Equal Pay Day: April 9, 2013”, Lawyers Club News, March 2013; “Check your lizard, engage your walnuts, and other tips to leverage your self-evaluation for professional advancement”, January 2013, Lawyers Club News; and “In-House counsel has limitless opportunities”, October 2012, Lawyers Club News. She also moderated the November 19, 2014, SDCBA presentation entitled “Employment Law Update: Wage & Hour Mistakes You Want to Avoid.”
Ms. Stephenson is dedicated to the San Diego community and is actively involved in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Women Give San Diego, and USD School of Law. In 2013, Ms. Stephenson raised over $50,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through its Man & Woman of the Year competition. She also holds leadership positions with Women Give San Diego and USD Law serving as co-chair of the Advocacy Leadership Team and a Law Firm Challenge Agent, respectively. In her free time, Ms. Stephenson enjoys mountain and road biking, yoga, reading, and spending time with friends and family across the country and around the globe. She is also a proud new Mom to her son Cooper.
